RECORD STORE DAY: Van Halen, Madonna, Pearl Jam Bring Out Rarities

Record Store Day 2023 is tomorrow (Saturday), and there are over 300 releases that include some nice rarities from Van Halen, Pearl Jam, Madonna, Duran Duran and The Black Keys.

The 1975 - Live With The BBC Philharmonic Orchestra - 2 LP, CD, Cassette. This was recorded in 2016.

The Allman Brothers Band - Syria Mosque - Pittsburgh, PA 1-17-71 - 2 LP. This is another live release from the Allman vaults.

Bastille - MTV Unplugged - Live in London - 2 LP. This was recorded in 2021.

The Black Keys - Live at Beachland Tavern March 31, 2002 - LP. This is a recording of the duo’s very first show.

Blur - Blur Present The Special Collectors Edition - 2 LP. This was first released only in Japan in 1994 and features B-sides from their first three albums.

David Byrne - The Complete Score From "The Catherine Wheel" - 2 LP. This is the first time the full score from the Twyla Tharp ballet has been released. It features four songs the Talking Heads played on tour in 1982 and 1983.

Belinda Carlisle - Remixed - 2 LP. This compiles various remixes of her solo hits.

The Cure - Show (2023 Remaster) - 2-LP. It’s the first time has been reissued on vinyl.

Dio - Live in Fresno 1983 - 2 LP. This is the first vinyl release of the concert released in last year’s Holy Diver box set.

The Doors - “Love Her Madly,” “Hello, I Love You,” “Break on Through (To the Other Side)” - 3-inch Singles. These special singles are designed to be played on The Doors' RSD3 mini-turntable.

Duran Duran - Carnival Rio! - LP This compiles all the Rio “Night Versions” and Carnival EP remixes from 1982.

Emerson, Lake & Palmer - Brain Salad Surgery - Picture Disc. This is a 50th anniversary edition of the album.

A Flock of Seagulls - Rare Birds - A Flock of Seagulls B-Sides, Edits and Alternate Mixes - LP. A collection of 12 remixes and B-sides released around the band’s debut album.

Garbage - Witness to Your Love - 12-inch EP. This features three unreleased tracks, including a cover of “Cities in Dust” from Siouxsie and the Banshees.

Jerry Garcia Band - How Sweet It Is: Live at Warfield Theatre, San Francisco 1990 - 2 LP. This is a reissue of a live album from 1997.

Generation X - Generation X - LP. The debut album from Billy Idol and company gets its first vinyl reissue.

The Grateful Dead - Boston Garden, Boston, MA 5/7/77 - 5 LP. It’s the vinyl debut for this classic concert.

Jerry Harrison - The Red and The Black - 2 LP. The solo debut from the Talking Heads member gets its first reissue.

Jason Isbell & Amanda Shires - The Sound Emporium - 12-inch EP. This includes new songs from the Record Store Day Ambassadors.

Joan Jett & The Blackhearts - Up Your Alley - LP. This reissue is on yellow lemonade vinyl.

Billy Joel - Live at the Great American Music Hall - 2 LP. This was first released in a box set two years ago.

Elton John - Don't Shoot Me, I'm Only the Piano Player - 2 LP. This reissue includes a second LP of demos.

Norah Jones - Little Broken Hearts: Live at Allaire Studios - LP. Jones did a live performance of this album in the summer of 2022.

Carole King - The Legendary Demos - LP. The reissue of this 2012 collection features demos recorded from 1962 to 1971.

John Lennon - Gimme Some Truth - 10-inch vinyl box set. This 2020 collection gets reissued over nine EPs.

Madonna - American Life Mixshow Mix (In Memory of Peter Rauhofer) - LP. This collects various remixes made for that 2003 album.

Post Malone - “Waiting dor Never”/”Hateful” - 12-inch single. This is the first physical release of these Twelve Carat Toothache bonus tracks

Paul McCartney and Wings - Red Rose Speedway - LP. This is a 50th anniversary edition of the album with “My Love.”

Eddie Money - The Covers - LP. This is a reissue of two EPs he released in 2009 and includes takes on songs by The Beatles and AC/DC.

Motley Crue – Helter Skelter - 12-inch picture disc. This includes two songs from Shout at the Devil and Too Fast for Love.

Nena - 99 Luftballoons 40th Anniversary - EP. This includes the German version of the hit.

Stevie Nicks - Bella Donna Live 1981 - 2 x LP. This concert release gets its vinyl debut.

Pearl Jam - Give Way - CD, 2 LP. This is a 1998 concert from the Yield tour in Australia.

Ramones - Pleasant Dreams (The New York Mixes) - LP. This features the original mixes by album producer Graham Gouldman and three songs from the sessions not included on the original album.

Keith Richards - Vintage Vinos - 2 LP. This is a reissue of his out-of-print solo best of compilation.

The Rolling Stones - Beggars Banquet - LP. This is a new colored vinyl pressing for the album’s 55th anniversary.

Todd Rundgren - A Wizard / A True Star - LP. The 50th anniversary edition of this album is on colored vinyl.

Stephen Sanchez - Easy on My Eyes – 12-inch EP. It’s the first time “Until I Found You” is out on vinyl.

Soul Asylum - MTV Unplugged - 2 LP. Their full 1993 performance gets its first release.

Ringo Starr - Stop & Smell the Roses – CD, 2 LP. His 1981 album finally gets reissued.

Donna Summer - A Hot Summer Night (40th Anniversary Edition) - 2 LP. This 1983 concert gets its first reissue.

Taylor Swift - folklore: the long pond studio sessions – 2 LP. Swift is joined on this live in the studio album by members of The National and Jack Antonoff.

Tom Tom Club - Tom Tom Club (Expanded Edition) - 2 LP. The debut release from Chris Frantz and Tina Weymouth of Talking Heads side project adds a bonus LP of 12-inch mixes and rare single tracks.

U2 – “Two Hearts Beat as One”/”Sunday Bloody Sunday” War & Surrender Mixes – 12-inch EP. The includes the original versions and remakes of both songs.

Van Halen - LIVE: Right Here, Right Now - 4 LP. The 1993 live document of the Sammy Hagar era adds three tracks not on the CD edition. This is the start of vinyl reissues from Hagar's time in the band. They are being overseen by engineer Donn Landee.

Violent Femmes - Violent Femmes (40th Anniversary) – LP. This is a picture disc with the album cover on both sides of the vinyl.

Scott Weiland - 12 Bar Blues - 2 LP. The solo debut from the late Stone Temple Pilots singer gets its vinyl debut.

Wilco - Crosseyed Strangers: An Alternate Yankee Hotel Foxtrot - LP. This uses various versions from the Yankee Hotel Foxtrot box set.

Yes - Live at Knoxville Civic Auditorium - 3 LP. This was first released in the Progeny box set.

Warren Zevon - The Wind - LP. Zevon’s last studio album gets its vinyl debut.
