White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt accused a reporter of being "a far left hack" in a fiery text message exchange.
Leavitt shared a screenshot of her alleged conversation with Huffington Post White House correspondent S.V. Dáte in which Dáte asked if President Donald Trump realized the significance of scheduling a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Budapest as it was where Russia promised not to invade Ukraine if it had surrendered nuclear weapons it inherited during the dissolving of the Soviet Union in 1994.
"Does he not see why Ukraine might object to that site?" Dáte asked. "Who suggested Budapest?"
"Your mom did," Leavitt responded before Dáte asked "Is this funny to you?"
"It's funny to me that you actually consider yourself a journal," Leavitt wrote back. "You are a far left hack who nobody takes seriously, including your colleagues in the media, they just don't tell you that to your face. Stop texting me your disingenuous, biased, and bulls**t questions."
Leavitt shared the screengrab on her X account and once again referred to Dáte as a "left-wing hack."
"For context, S.V. Dáte of the Huffington Post is not a journalist interested in the facts. He is a left-wing hack who has consistently attacked President Trump for years and constantly bombards my phone with Democrat talking points. Just take a look at @svdate’s feed, it reads like an anti-Trump personal diary. Here is my full response to his “inquiry.” Activists who masquerade as real reporters do a disservice to the profession," Leavitt wrote.
The Huffington Post claimed it seemed a similar "your mom" response from Pentagon spokesman Sean Parnell when asked about a red, white and blue tie worn by War Secretary Pete Hegseth during Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's visit to the White House last week.
“Your mom bought it for him — and it’s a patriotic American tie, moron," Parnell wrote, according to the outlet.
