Miranda Lambert shared a heartfelt post after she and Parker McCollum arranged a star-studded benefit concert to help people in their home state recover from devastating floods.
Lambert confirmed on Monday (August 18) that Band Together Texas raised $8.5 million for flood relief efforts. Proceeds benefit the Community Foundation of Texas Hill Country and Central Texas Community Foundation.
“I have no words for how moving last night was,” Lambert said. “So many friends showing up for our home state we love so dearly. Thank you to everyone who donated time, talent, money, love and energy into making this night one of healing and fellowship. And thank you to everyone who came to the show or tuned in. God Bless Texas 🩵”
Lambert and McCollum were among artists to take the stage at the event on Sunday evening (August 17) at Moody Center in Austin, Texas. Others in the lineup included Cody Johnson, Ronnie Dunn, Lyle Lovett, Randy Rogers Band, Wade Bowen, Jack Ingram, Jon Randall, Ryan Bingham, Lukas Nelson and Dylan Gossett. Jason Aldean took the stage as a surprise guest. Matthew McConaughey, Dennis Quaid, Roger Clemens, Mack Brown, Colt McCoy, Vince Young, Chris Harrison and Emmanuel Acho also made appearances at the live-streamed event.
“The flooding in the Hill Country of Texas is truly heartbreaking,” McCollum said when he and Lambert announced Band Together Texas. “This place and these people are my community. There is a long road ahead rebuilding and even though so many families are facing the unimaginable, we’re Texas strong. [Miranda Lambert] is inspiring in both her music and how big her heart is, and I’m honored to be joining her for this benefit concert to support our fellow Texans and share a night of healing through music.”
