East Stroudsburg is gearing up for its annual Beautification Day, scheduled for Saturday (May 3). This event invites community members to come together for a day of cleaning and beautifying the borough. Volunteers will gather at 8:30 a.m. at the pavilion by the Dansbury Park Swimming Pool on Day Street.
The event, organized by the East Stroudsburg Borough Beautification Team, aims to spruce up areas from Mill Creek Road to Interstate 80, including the railroad area. Over 200 volunteers have already signed up, including local high school students, the East Stroudsburg University football team, and the student-teacher group from ESU. Borough manager Kelly Lewis expressed enthusiasm for the event, stating, "Having these clean up days is great. No one wants to drive around and see trash on the ground." He also highlighted the opportunity to reconnect with neighbors and enjoy the outdoors.
According to the Pocono Record, tools and gloves will be provided for all participants, along with free T-shirts. The event is open to everyone, from longtime locals to those simply passionate about keeping the community clean.
Donations are being accepted to support the event, with the goal of raising over $10,000. Contributions can be made through Eventbrite or by cash or check at the Day Street Community Center. The Friends of Stroud Region Open Space and Recreation Commission is the official nonprofit partner for the event.
