The Pocono Mountains Visitors Bureau is calling for volunteers to join the Pick Up the Poconos Spring Cleanup on Saturday, April 26, from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The event, part of a long-term initiative to keep the region clean, will take place across Monroe, Pike, Carbon, and Wayne counties, regardless of weather conditions.
Volunteers can choose from over 20 locations to participate in the cleanup effort. They will receive supply kits containing trash bags, gloves, and safety vests. The Monroe County Municipal Waste Management Authority will coordinate the cleanup and ensure proper disposal of the collected litter.
Chris Barrett, President/CEO of the Pocono Mountains Visitors Bureau, expressed gratitude for the volunteers' efforts, stating, "Their efforts contribute to the Pocono Mountains being a great place to live, learn, work, and play." Since its launch in 2018, the Pick Up the Poconos campaign has removed nearly 46,000 bags of trash from the area.
Interested individuals and groups can sign up by April 18 at PickUpthePoconos.com. Participants must be at least 18 years old, though arrangements can be made for younger volunteers by contacting the organizers directly.
The initiative also includes private cleanups organized by local businesses, community groups, and Pocono resorts. For more information, visit PickUpthePoconos.com.
