Red Cross workers from New Jersey are on their way to California to assist those affected by the severe wildfires ravaging the Los Angeles area. Four volunteers from the New Jersey American Red Cross are set to provide essential services, including food, shelter, and medical care, to residents impacted by the fires.

The Palisades Fire, one of the largest blazes, has burned over 17,000 acres since it started on Tuesday (January 7). Additionally, the Eaton Fire in the San Gabriel Valley has scorched more than 10,000 acres. A new fire also erupted last night in the Hollywood Hills, adding to the challenges faced by firefighters and emergency responders.

NBC Philadelphia reports that these fires have destroyed over 1,000 structures and forced more than 130,000 people to evacuate. Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass stated that firefighters from across California and other regions have joined the efforts to control the fires, which are being exacerbated by erratic winds.

The New Jersey volunteers are part of a broader effort to support relief operations in Southern California. As the fires continue to spread, organizations are collecting donations to aid the victims. PIX11 highlights the importance of community support during these challenging times.
