Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood delivered a moving rendition of “Imagine” by John Lennon to honor late former President Jimmy Carter. Carter’s funeral was held at Washington National Cathedral on Thursday (January 9). He died on December 29 at his home in Georgia. He was 100

Brooks, 62, and Yearwood, 60, both paid tribute to Carter by sharing photos from the work they did together on Habitat for Humanity homes. Habitat for Humanity’s Jimmy & Rosalynn Carter Work Project launched in the mid-1980s, per the nonprofit organization, and the Carters often volunteered over the years. Carter’s wife of nearly eight decades, former First Lady Rosalynn Carter, died in November 2023. She was 96.

“Rest easy, Mr. President. I’m sad for us, and happy for you. Your and Mrs. Rosalynn’s legacy of love will live forever. ♥️,” Yearwood wrote in her tribute to Carter. Brooks followed: “President Carter, the legacy you and Rosalynn have left us is as beautiful as the life you lived. Thank you for your lifetime of service to our country and the world. You inspired us not just by what you said, but by what you built. We love you.”

Brooks and Yearwood also performed “Imagine” at the late former First Lady’s funeral in November 2023, held at Glenn Memorial United Methodist Church in Atlanta, Georgia. After the funeral, Carter will be laid to rest with his wife in Plains, Georgia.
