The Monroe County Habitat for Humanity ReStore in Marshalls Creek is now officially open for business. The store, which sells a variety of items from patio furniture to paint, is not your average retailer. Every penny spent at the store goes directly back to the local organization, supporting its programs in Monroe County.
"Every dollar spent in our ReStore will stay in Monroe County. It will go to our programs," said Scott Fabian, the executive director of Monroe County Habitat for Humanity to WBRE-TV. These programs provide safe, clean, and affordable housing for elderly, low-income, and disabled people in the county.
The need for Habitat for Humanity's services has grown over the past few months, according to Fabian. The opening of the ReStore will allow the organization to put more people in homes. The store's inventory, which includes donated gently used and brand-new items, will increase the good the organization can do.
The ReStore is currently open from Thursday through Sunday. The proceeds from sales of new and gently used items will go toward Habitat’s home preservation and partnership programs, allowing for more projects to be completed.
