NJ.com released more information about an incident where 35-year-old Meghan Crilly was crossing a street two months ago when she was struck by a red Jeep Grand Cherokee that kept driving.

Crilly was an elementary school teacher and a Fanwood resident, who died 11 days after the accident.

Eight weeks of investigation went on, and authorities announced yesterday (March 20) that they arrested the man who was behind the wheel.

According to acting Union County Prosecutor Michael A. Monahan, 39-year-old Ibn Collins was arrested and charged with aggravated manslaughter, death by auto while driving intoxicated within 1,000 feet of a school, hindering apprehension and tampering with evidence. Collins had been drinking that night in celebration of his birthday.

Crilly suffered from "spinal damage, a broken pelvis, broken tibia, lacerated liver and internal bleeding." She passed away on Feb. 1.

While Crilly spent her time in the hospital, Collins took the time to order replacement parts for his vehicle, as he told his boss at Brinton Autobody in Westfield he had hit a deer. He is expected to appear in court on March 25 and faces up to 30 years in prison.
