According to the New Jersey Herald, Project Self-Sufficiency is looking for donations of new and gently-used formal wear for its Sister-to-Sister Prom Shop. Donations can include prom dresses, bridesmaid's dresses, gowns, evening bags, jewelry, along with wraps, shawls and shoes that are in good condition.
Any dresses being donated must be dry cleaned and on a hanger.
Deborah Berry-Toon, executive director of Project Self-Sufficiency said, "We have traditionally been fortunate to have a large collection of beautiful gowns and accessories in our collection, but we are in need of more donations from the community at this time."
The Sister-to-Sister Prom Shop will be taken on the road this month for pop-up boutiques on their mobile services vehicle, PSS Journey, before they set up for their usual location at Project Self-Sufficiency itself.
These pop-up boutiques will take place at various local schools, which you can find here. Pop-up boutiques allow girls to "shop" for what they need, at no cost!
"Every young woman deserves the chance to have a beautiful dress for that special, once-in-a-lifetime event..." said Berry-Toon.
Donations are accepted Monday's through Thursday's from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Friday's from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. all throughout mid-April, at the Project Self-Sufficiency building, 127 Mill St. in Newton, NJ.
