Video Caught Man Sexually Assaulting Unconscious Woman in N.J. Bar

According to NJ.com, a Monmouth County man was sentenced to 15 years in prison for sexually assaulting a "helpless and unconscious" woman in a bar, after it had closed for the night.

47-year-old Isrrael Cordero, of Long Branch, was given his sentence last week. This attack occurred after-hours at what is now a closed bar in the beachside city.

Prosecutor Christopher J. Gramiccioni said law enforcement learned about the assault when Cordero called police on March 3, 2017, reporting that he was "assaulted by the victim after engaging in consensual sex."

Gramiccioni also said a surveillance video captured the assault which "demonstrated the victim was physically helpless and unconscious." He mentioned that Cordero and the victim did know each other.

Cordero was found guilty of two counts of first-degree aggravated sexual assault, two counts of second-degree sexual assault, one count of third-degree aggravated criminal sexual contact and one count of fourth-degree criminal sexual contact.

Judge Torregrossa-O'Connor said Cordero violated her "basic right to privacy and dignity."

Before Cordero can be eligible for parole supervision for life, he must serve at least 12 years, nine months (85 percent) of his prison sentence.
