Teenager Pleads Guilty to Murdering 15-year-old Friend

According to the NJ Herald, a 16-year-old admitted to killing his 15-year-old friend at a home in the Adirondacks.

Adrian Sawyer pleaded guilty after being charged for second degree murder on Thursday at Washington County Court.

Lawyers reported in The Post-Star, a daily newspaper in Glens Falls, that although Sawyer pleaded guilty, the motivation for the killing of Maverick Bowman will most likely never be known.

Sawyer agreed to serve 20-years-to-life in state prison for murdering Bowman. He had been charged with arson in connection to a fire that he set off in the home after killing Bowman, but this charge will be dropped as part of the plea deal.

The judge did not ask Sawyer about the details of the killing and it appeared to both Sawyer's lawyer and the prosecution that he was unable to tell them why he killed his friend.
