According to NJ.com, a bleacher brawl broke out at an 8th grade boys basketball game in South Jersey last week. Authorities say six people were charged for the incident which included a player and five adult women.
The fight broke out at 8:50 p.m. on Jan. 19 at Pennsville Middle School during a Salem Country Rural League game between Pennsville and Salem. Chief Allen Cummings said parents and players began exchanging verbal remarks in the final minutes of the game.
Although this basketball league plays their games in school facilities, it is not affiliated with the school districts in Salem County.
You can check out the footage of the brawl, here. At one point a women hands a baby to a player, runs across the court and punches another women.
Cummings said, "You can see where they start arguing and someone pulls someone's hair from behind. I've been here 30 years and I don't recall anything even close to this."
Asis Martin, 22 of Salem, was charged with three counts of simple assault and one count of disorderly conduct. 20-year-old Kamya Kibler and 18-year-old Ta'Kyah Dowe, of Salem, each were charged with one count of simple assault and one count of disorderly conduct.
In addition, 34-year-old Wanda Rivera and 52-year-old Wanda Rios, both Pennsville residents, were charged with disorderly conduct. A 13-year-old Salem boy was also charged with disorderly conduct.
There were no series injuries. Cummings said although there are occasional police walk-throughs at the gym, no officer is regularly assigned to the league's games.
The game was called after police restored order.
