Project Self-Sufficiency in Newton, NJ is looking for volunteer tutors to assist in the New Jersey Youth Corps high school efficiency and employment skills training program.
If you are unaware of the New Jersey Youth Corps, it is a program that gives young adults the opportunity to shape their skills in literacy and prepare them for high school exams. It also helps them learn on-the-job work experience for their transition to college, the military or a career path.
Therefore, tutors would need to help young adults in getting a better grasp at science, math, social studies and English. They would also be asked to assist with basic reading comprehension skills and vocabulary.
Volunteers are also needed to help with community service projects, especially those who are experienced in business, construction trades, building maintenance and landscaping.
Any opportunity to tutor or volunteer is available from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. from Monday through Friday. If your schedule is already jam packed but you still want to help out, flexibility in your volunteering schedule is always offered.
To find out more info and offer your volunteering services, visit Project Self-Sufficiency or call (973)-940-3500 or (844)-807-3500.
