Sparta Historical Society is hosting its third car show on Oct. 14, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Sparta Middle School parking lot, in memorial of a late friend and co-founder.
Located at 336 Main Street there will be free admission with the option to purchase food, along with live music. Each year there is a new theme for the show, but this years theme holds close to many member and local hearts. The show is in memorial of Bill Ashley, a co-founder of the society's car show, who passed earlier this year.
Bill owned a vintage '40 Ford that he fixed up and would bring to various shows. A picture of his vintage '40 Ford can be found at the Sparta Independent website here! His car will be in attendance at the show for all to admire.
Displaying about 100 vintage and classic cars, there will not be any trophies given out. Although, the society is known for giving out its "People's Choice" award which allows anyone in attendance to vote on their favorite ride.
The Van Kirk Museum (where the Historical Society is located) will also be open for its fall exhibit of "Traditions of the Black Forest" including a talk about the exhibit at 2 p.m. For more information on the exhibit and museum times, visit The Sparta Independent.
